"O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one another. Truly, the most honored of you in God's sight is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-Knowing, All-Aware". (Quran, 49:13) Muslims believe that Muhammad was the final Prophet of Almighty God and His Messenger to all humanity. Muhammad believed that the message he received from Archangel Gabriel sura by sura was the same one which Allah had sent down to the earliest humans. It contained a description of the way of life which Allah had established for people to follow while they lived here on earth. By agreeing to follow this way of life, people would essentially be submitting themselves to Allah. The name of this way of life was simply "submission". In Arabic this is "Islam" In Islam, the Quran and the living example of the Prophet satisfied both mind and heart and formed the foundation of a way of life where the spheres of law, economics, and politics surrendered to the central creed of the oneness and uniqueness of Allah. For Muslims, Islam was not a new religion, but the same truth that God revealed through all His prophets to every people. Muslims believe in six articles of faith. They believe in One, unique and incomparable God, the creator of the Universe who was the Protector, the Mighty, the Merciful, the Knowledgeable, the Wise, the Loving... They believe in the Quran mentioned around 100 beautiful names for Allah through which Muslims might recognize and understand Him and His Universal responsibilities.
They believe in the Angels created by the creator of the universe. The believe in a chain of prophets through whom His revelations were brought to mankind that included Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, Jesus, and Muhammad, who was the final one, who summed up all that had been revealed before. They believe in the revealed books including the Quran, Torah, and the Bible. They believe in the Day of Judgment with individual accountability for actions. They believe inn divine destiny where God had complete authority over human destiny, and, in life after death. For a fifth of the world's population, Islam was both a religion and a complete way of life. Muslims followed a religion of peace, mercy, and forgiveness, and the majority of them had nothing to do with the unusually severe actions which have come to be associated with their faith. Islam today is the religion and way of life for one billion people of diverse races, nations, and cultures worldwide. There are Muslim communities not only in Arab countries, but, also in Indonesia, Asia, Africa, China, the Americas, and Europe. In the Islamic faith, the Prophet Muhammad actualized the Will of God as revealed to him in the Quran, and, embodied the Will of God by his living example in the Sunnah. Imams, Amirs, and Caliphs carry out this tradition of Islam by conveying it to each succeeding generation.
Muslims believe in Arkan al Islam, the Five Pillars
of Islam. They form the framework of the Muslim life. They are Shahadah (faith), Salah (obligatory prayer),
Zakat (concern for the needy), Sawn (self-purification), and Hajj (the
pilgrimage to Makkah for those who were able).
